4.jpg

The wisdom teeth typically grow in between the ages of 16 and 25. They are also known as the third molars. Some people will have these teeth grow in without any problems. However, most people will need to have their wisdom teeth removed at some point.

Infection

If there is not enough space for the teeth to grow in, then this can cause an infection. It can also lead to gum disease. It can be difficult to treat an infection once it develops. That is why if your wisdom teeth are impacted, then you may have to get them removed.

Overcrowding

Your wisdom teeth may grow in an area that is already crowded. If there is not enough room to grow, then the other teeth may be pushed out of alignment. Even if you have already had braces, your teeth may become crooked again if your wisdom teeth do not grow in properly.

Damage to Other Teeth

Your other teeth can be damaged if your wisdom teeth do not grow in properly. It can lead to bone loss. It can also lead to cavities.

Tumors

If your wisdom teeth are impacted, then tumors can easily grow in your mouth. You may have to be referred to a specialist if you have a tumor.

Difficult to Keep Clean

Your wisdom teeth may be difficult for you to clean if they do not grow in properly. Your toothbrush may not be able to reach in between your teeth. You may also not be able to get the floss in between your teeth. Plaque may build up as a result of this problem. This can increase your risk of developing gum disease and tooth decay.
